This is the L.Luthier Le Manga C tenor electro ukulele, with the ‘Manga’ part of the name referring to the slid mango used for the back and sides, and the ‘C’ referring to the premium solid cedar top. The top is supported by lattice bracing, which delivers really good sustain and a well-balanced sound, keeping some nice richness and fullness of tone, and pairing it with articulate, sweet trebles. It’s a nice all rounder, with a full, chiming sound when strummed and a perky, bright sound when picked - a brightness that has a soft edge to it which is very pretty indeed.

The Le Manga C has a gloss finish and a host of interesting design features, including an off centre soundhole, pretty maple binding and a shoulder sound port. Tucked just inside that soundhole are controls for the on board active pickup - a unit that combines both an undersaddle pickup and a quality, tiny internal microphone. The blend between the two can be adjusted to deliver an impressive natural sound - although it should be noted that adding lots of the mic to the mix can lead to a bit of feedback (the same with any system of this type).

This L.Luthier ukulele has a 37mm nut and a fairly shallow neck profile, a combination that I find very comfortable - particularly when factoring in the World of Ukes set up, which is included free with every instrument. You’ll enjoy playing it, I’m certain!
