This is lovely, satin finish tenor uke from Millar’s small workshop in Taiwan. As usual, this small family company surprised me with a new model, as they seem to love to do. I might ask for ten ukes that sell quickly and instead, they make new models because they love to make instruments for the joy of it it seems, rather than for hard-nosed business reasons. It can be a little frustrating if you have a queue of customers after a specific model… but that excitement they feel in making new things rubs off on me when they arrive (I always cave in and buy them anyway, and am glad that I did when I get them).

Anyway… enough of all that. What is the uke?! Well, it’s an all solid mango instrument, using very attractive mango from Hawaii. The nut witdh is a standard 35mm, with a fairly slim neck profile - with a useful flattened portion under the lower frets, making an idea anchor for your thumb when you’re playing those first position chords. The uke is fitted with Worth Browns and excellent quality Der Jung geared tuners.

The Millar MG-260 has a beautiful, open sounding, warm-edged tone. It chimes beautifully when strummed, and is very articulate when picked. There’s a lovely sweetness, plenty of volume but always just a pleasant softness to the attack, which means it’s chimey rather than jangly, and delivers a soft brightness, rather than out and out power. It’s a lovely one!

At the bottom of the page you’ll find a series of common extras, like a low G or a bag or case. This uke doesn’t come with any strap buttons fitted, but you can add those too.
