Ohana TK-260GCE All Solid Cedar and Acacia Cutaway Electro Tenor Ukulele
This is a really smart ukulele from Ohana, with loads going for it. It looks pretty, with its gloss finish, lovely wood grain and rosewood binding. It plays nicely, with my set up and Ohana’s impressive build quality (I’m forever levelling frets, but not with Ohana ukes - who clearly concentrate on this aspect of quality control). Most importantly though, it sounds impressive - with a full, bold tone with a crispness in the trebles and a depth and bass response that it (using that word again), impressive.
The Ohana TK-260GCE has an active pickup too, with a pre-amp with tone and volume controls, which also features a built in tuner. The performance here is solid, with the pickup giving a good interpretation of that excellent acoustic tone. It really does sound good - complex, rich, loud, bright and yet full and deep all in one. Good stuff!
The TK-260GCE tenor electro uke has a 36mm nut width, and while this isn’t standard, my stock is supplied with Worth Brown strings, giving excellent sustain. Usually they’d have Aquila strings but I asked for my stock to be sent with Worths, which were fitted in Ohana’s US workshop before coming to me in the UK.
At the bottom of the page you’ll find easy to add extras, like a gig bag or hard case. Unlike many electro tenor ukes, this one doesn’t have a jack socket that doubles as a strap button - but you can add those free too, or a low G.
For a long time Ohana might have been considered a safe bet. Reliable, but perhaps not hugely exciting. With the TK-260GCE they’re really shown that they can produce something exciting and yes… impressive.
