Ohana TK-35G-5 All Solid Mahogany 5-String Tenor Ukulele
This is an extremely smart-looking Ohana TK-35G-5 tenor uke, a 5-string model that has both a high and low G. Sometimes said to be the instrument for those who can't decide between a low and a high G, in fact, this uke has a voice all of its own - a hybrid of the two types.
With a very attractive gloss finish, the TK-35G-5 also boasts an all solid mahogany top, back and sides. Another little feature is some nice dark binding, which when compared to the black and white purfling looks very smart - without being over the top.
As standard, the uke is supplied with Aquila strings, with a wound low G. The attractively shaped headstock of course has 5 tuners, each of which is a good quality, Grover branded open geared type. Fret markers, side markers, bone nut and saddle and rosewood fingerboard and bridge make up the rest of the specification.
In general, 5-string ukes can be a bit dominant at the lower end, with the low G taking over the bulk of the sound. However, the Ohana TK-35G-5 doesn't suffer from this problem, with the higher notes still very much in evidence as you strum. Both the warmth of mahogany and the low G deliver richness, yes, but this is more of a background that, in contrast, highlights the treble notes. Very nice!
If you fancy something different, but like a tenor size body, this Ohana ukulele could well be what you're looking for.
