This is a lovely all solid mango tenor and part of Risa’s acoustic range of instruments. Risa, based in Germany, have long been associated with travel electro ukes and solid body steel string instruments, but the parent company have put their name to a series of ukuleles with more a more conventional style - and to very good effect.

This Risa ukulele is made in Vietnam, in a facility where a number of brands are produced - including Uluru, Romero and Big Island. So it’s a factory that’s well used to making quality instruments, and this Risa is no exception. It uses very attractive solid spalted mango for the body, with a maple soundhole decoration that ties in nicely.

In the case of my Risa ukes, I have replaced the Aquila strings that they arrived with with aNueNue Green Planet fluorocarbon strings, which have a smoother feel, more sustain and give this Risa tenor a lovely, lively chiming quality, while retaining some of the sweet warmth that mango is synonymous with.

These instruments have a relatively slim body - not super slim but not as deep as some tenors, and feel light and comfortable in the hands. They have very good quality geared tuners and a 35mm nut width.

This Risa tenor acoustic series ukulele comes as it is, with no bag or case - but you can choose from easy-to-add options down at the bottom of this page, as well adding a low G, or strap buttons, if required.
