Uma UK-06ST Solid Spruce Top Tenor Ukulele
The Uma UK-06ST tenor ukulele is a great choice for those new to the ukulele, who are looking to get something that’s not overly expensive, but ventures into the territory of solid wood for the top. In this case, it’s solid spruce, which gives a bright, zingy sound - but not a tinny one. It’s got some depth to the tone as well.
Uma ukuleles are quite forgiving when I they’re on my workbench so I am able to set these up to be nice and comfortable to play - especially at the nut end of the fretboard, where newer players are likely to spend more of their time. And, with a nice, neat quality to the build, this UK-06T tenor uke would also suit someone stepping up from a basic all laminate instrument too.
It has a standard 35mm nut width and an average neck profile so there’s no real surprises in terms of playability - again a decent advantage if you’re new and just feeling your way into the world of ukuleles. The geared tuners are well made and there’s a padded gig bag included too. It is also fitted with fluorocarbon strings, which ring out nicely and sustain well, especially compared to the Aquila strings that are often fitted to tenor ukuleles at this price point.
The Uma UK-06ST is a great choice for players on a budget who want to avoid the lottery of cheap Amazon laminate ukes. It’s not the most handsome instrument I suppose, in terms of decoration, but it’s hard to beat in terms of sound and playabilty.
At the bottom of the page you’ll find some common extras, like low G fitting and strap buttons - which you can easily add to your basket alongside this Uma tenor uke.
