The Uma UK-20SCP blue concert ukulele is an attractive uke with a pineapple body, giving you a different look to the ukes in your collection, as well as a little more roundness and richness to the tone. Compared to the standard concert uke in this series, the bass notes are a little more pronounced. Having said that, even though mahogany is a characteristically warm sounding wood, Uma manage to tease out some nice brightness and singing overtones too. All in all the sound is nicely balanced. A little warmer, but not muddy, with nice clarity in the trebles too.

The build quality is very good, with a lovely gloss finish and very tidy build. The UK-20SCP comes with an Uma branded ukulele gig bag too (and a decent one), and the geared tuners are effective and smooth. Uma fit their own light gauge ukulele strings, which are very easy on the fingers - particularly as I find Uma’s very receptive to me lowering the action at the nut when setting them up.

The uke is made from all solid mahogany, the grain of which can be seen through the blue stain given to the finish. This is complemented nicely by the greens and glues of the abalone soundhole decoration, and the slotted headstock is smartly done too.
