This is a one-off, brand new ukulele, made in Japan from all solid Hawaiian koa. It’s a one off as it is no longer produced. This is the only one of this model to come into the UK and part of an extremely limited run of instruments. The stylised 'K' on the headstock came out looking similar to the iconic headstock of Mya-Moe ukuleles, so Kiwaya only made a handful before stopping production. Cary at Mya-Moe and Kiwaya discussed this and agreed that the handful of ukes that were made could find new owners. It’s somewhat confusing too that Kiwaya decided to recycle an old product code, so if you look for KTC-3 you’ll find the old model shown…

This is a neatly made all solid Hawaiian koa concert ukulele, with a light, traditionally Hawaiian build (although this is a Japanese-made ‘homage’). It has a breezy, bright and harmonically rich sound - sweet and pretty, with a lovely shimmer.

The KTC-3 has a 36mm nut width, a nice shallow neck profile that I find particularly comfortable, rear facing Gotoh UPT geared tuners, and Kiwaya fluorocarbon strings. It’s also a bit of a rarity, as well as a good deal for an all solid Japanese-made, Kiwaya uke.
